$1 Million Boost for North Knights Junior Rugby League

One of Central Queensland’s biggest junior rugby league clubs is finally set to get the facilities it deserves, with Federal Member for Capricornia Michelle Landry announcing a $1 million election commitment to upgrade the home of the North Knights Junior Rugby League.

Currently, the club has just three toilets and no changerooms, which is a far cry from what’s needed to support the players, families and visitors who pass through the gates each week.

Michelle Landry’s $1 million commitment will fund a brand-new amenities block and a refurbished canteen, giving the club modern facilities that match its size and community contribution. The new canteen will also provide better opportunities for fundraising on game days, critical for the club’s ongoing growth and sustainability.

“This is a thriving club that’s doing incredible things for kids and families in the region, but their facilities are stuck in the past,” Ms Landry said.

“Three toilets for more than 500 members simply isn’t good enough. Our regional clubs deserve better and I’m proud to step up and fight for them.”

Ms Landry said the LNP understands just how important grassroots sporting clubs are to regional communities.

“These clubs don’t just teach kids how to pass a footy; they build resilience, confidence, and lifelong friendships. They’re the heart of communities like Rockhampton.

“A postcode should never determine the quality of facilities a club has access to. The LNP is committed to delivering the infrastructure regional Australians need, not just in big cities, but right here in places like Park Avenue.”

North Knights representative Tenille Dittman said the upgrades would be transformative for the club.

“We’ve outgrown our facilities and it’s been a real challenge,” she said.

“With over 500 members, volunteers and visiting teams all deserve to feel supported when they train and play here. Having access to proper changerooms and enough toilets will be a game-changer for our entire footy community.”

“We’re incredibly grateful to Michelle Landry for recognising the need and committing this vital funding. It means the world to our club.”
