Countdown is on to Beef ’27

Excitement is already building across Central Queensland as preparations ramp up for Rockhampton’s biggest agricultural showcase, Beef Week 2027.

Federal Member for Capricornia Michelle Landry joined Beef Australia CEO Simon Irwin and Chair Adelaide McDonald at the 2025 Australian Intercollegiate Meat Judging Association (ICMJ) Northern Conference to highlight the importance of the beef industry to the region.

Ms Landry said Rockhampton’s reputation as the Beef Capital of Australia continues to grow stronger with every event.

“Rockhampton is the heart of all things beef. From the paddock to the plate, our region leads the way in quality, innovation and community pride,” Ms Landry said.

“It’s fantastic to see so many young people and future leaders attending the 35th annual ICMJ Northern Conference. This event celebrates our world-class red meat industry, and it couldn’t come at a better time, with less than 750 days until Australia’s premier beef event kicks off once again in Rockhampton.

“Beef Week is more than just a celebration of the beef industry; it’s a major economic driver for our region. The 2024 event attracted over 125,500 people and delivered a staggering $102 million economic boost to the greater Rockhampton area,” Ms Landry said.

Beef Australia CEO Simon Irwin said planning for Beef 2027 is already well underway, with expectations high following the success of previous years.

“Beef Australia events are getting bigger and better every time. Each one strengthens Rockhampton’s position as a leader in the beef industry and drives serious economic activity in the region,” Mr Irwin said.

“From producers and processors to students and researchers, Beef Week brings together every part of the supply chain. It’s also a great platform for innovation, education, and international trade.”

Mr Irwin said he was pleased to attend the ICMJ Northern Conference, which plays a crucial role in developing young talent and connecting them with real-world opportunities.

“The ICMJ conference is about building skills, sharing knowledge, and empowering the next generation of industry leaders. These students are the future of our beef industry, and it’s fantastic to see their passion and commitment on display.”

Beef Week 2027 is scheduled to take place in May 2027, with further announcements on programming and events to come.
