Yet we are increasingly seeing the deliberate burning of the Australian flag used as a political stunt — an act designed to provoke, divide and demean the nation we all call home.
That is why as the Federal Member for Capricornia, I am calling for the burning of the Australian flag to be made a criminal offence.
Why Protecting The Australian Flag Matters
Burning the Australian flag is not peaceful protest, it is a deliberate act of desecration that shows contempt for our country, our veterans, and the values that unite us.
Australia has strong laws protecting other national symbols and institutions. Our flag deserves the same respect.
