An elected LNP Government will breathe new life into Yeppoon Town Centre, with Federal Member for Capricornia, Michelle Landry, committing $750,000 to kickstart Stage 1 of the Yeppoon Town Centre Revitalisation project.
Stage 1 of the revitalisation will enhance pedestrian access and upgrade the streetscape along Normanby Street, up to and including the Hill Street roundabout.
Ms Landry said Yeppoon is booming and investment in local infrastructure must keep pace to support the region’s rapid growth in both population and tourism.
“Yeppoon is one of Central Queensland’s shining success stories and we need to ensure that its infrastructure matches its potential,” Ms Landry said.
“This project will transform the town centre into a more accessible, vibrant and inviting destination. It will attract more visitors, support local businesses and create jobs.
“The LNP is committed to delivering a strong economy, and that means investing in projects that drive growth, increase business opportunities and create local jobs.”
“This project responds directly to feedback from Livingstone Shire Council and the business community, who want a more welcoming and accessible town centre.
“These improvements will not only make Yeppoon a more attractive place to visit and shop but will also encourage more foot traffic to businesses which will boost the local economy and deliver long-term benefits.
“A vibrant town centre means more jobs, stronger businesses, and a Yeppoon that continues to thrive.
“With the LNP’s focus on responsible economic management, we are delivering real, practical investments that secure the future of our communities,” Ms Landry said.
Mayor Adam Belot said with the revitalisation project now a key election commitment, the financial backing needed to move forward with enhancing Yeppoon’s town centre, is one step closer.
“Revitalising our town centre is about creating a more accessible, pedestrian-friendly, business-supportive, and sustainable urban environment,” Mayor Belot said.
“Council has allocated $750,000 to this project as part of its Forward Works Program, and with the estimated cost for Stage 1 around $1.5 million, this election commitment is fantastic news!
“The revitalisation will be executed in stages, beginning with Stage 1 on the easternmost block of Normanby Street.
“The focus will be on landscaping improvements, including planting trees to create an urban green canopy, as well as adding seating, signage, and public art.”
