Federal Member for Capricornia, Michelle Landry, has reaffirmed her strong support for local veterans and the Yeppoon community, announcing $108,000 for the Yeppoon RSL, if the LNP is elected.
The funding will go towards upgrading the entrance to the club, making it more accessible for those with a disability, extension to the disabled and emergency vehicle laydown area in front of the RSL, along with two memorial pillars and new flag poles.
Ms Landry said the Yeppoon RSL is a pillar of the community, providing crucial support for veterans and their families while also serving as a social hub for residents.
“The Yeppoon RSL is more than just a club, it’s a place where veterans find mateship, support, and recognition for their service,” Ms Landry said.
“It’s also a family-friendly hub that brings the community together, and with its membership growing, it’s vital that we invest in its future.
“Our veterans have given so much for our country, and they deserve nothing but the best in return. This funding will help ensure the Yeppoon RSL continues to grow and provide the vital support our veterans and their families rely on.
“This commitment to the Yeppoon RSL is just one way I’m delivering for our veterans and the wider community, ensuring they have the facilities, resources, and support they deserve,” Ms Landry said.
The Yeppoon RSL has welcomed an election commitment from the LNP, which will help the club grow and continue its vital work supporting local veterans.
Yeppoon RSL spokesperson Ashley Klease said the funding would provide a significant boost for the club and its members.
“The Yeppoon RSL is one of the oldest traditional clubs in Australia and plays an important role in our community. We rely on raffle ticket sales and weekend bar trade to keep our doors open.
“With nearly 400 members and growing, this commitment will allow us to expand, meet the needs of our community, and improve accessibility for people with disabilities, making Yeppoon RSL an even more welcoming, family-friendly venue,” Mr Klease said.
