Federal Member for Capricornia, Michelle Landry, is delighted to deliver funding for Rockhampton Zoo to be bushfire ready.
Rockhampton Zoo was one of 16 projects across Capricornia to benefit from the Coalition Government’s Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants. A total of $9 million was delivered across the Capricornia region.
Ms Landry said the grants provided support to communities affected during 2019-20 bushfires.
“As part of the Coalition Government’s $2.2 billion National Bushfire Recovery Fund, the Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants program backed projects which the affected communities said would best support their ongoing recovery.
“The grants funded a broad range of recovery and resilience projects, from social and community wellbeing right through to projects that supported local jobs, small businesses and infrastructure,” Ms Landry said.
Rockhampton Zoo was successful in receiving $503,000 to protect the animals and infrastructure improvements, should there be a natural disaster.
Hard working Capricornia MP, Michelle Landry, said that she is proud to stand by her record of delivering for her electorate.
“These types of investments for our region brings people together and build the much-needed infrastructure our communities need,” Ms Landry said.
