Landry Delivers Funding for Local Volunteers

Community groups in Capricornia are set to benefit from the Federal Member for Capricornia, Michelle Landry, delivering $66,225 in funding to support their volunteers.

Michelle Landry MP emphasised that the funds will be directed towards supporting 22 community organisations throughout the Capricornia region. This support aims to assist the dedicated volunteers in recognition of their hard work and contribution to the community.

“This additional funding will go a long way in helping local organisations and their volunteers to continue their crucial work in supporting the vulnerable and strengthening our community.

“Volunteering acts as an effective pathway to employment, fosters community participation and breaks down the barriers of marginalisation.

“To all volunteers in Capricornia, thank you for the work you do to make our communities a better place to live.

“Congratulations to the successful community groups. This funding is well deserved,” Ms Landry said.

The 2023-24 Volunteer Grants offer organisations funding ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 to enhance the efforts of their volunteers. This includes the ability to acquire minor equipment, offer training sessions, cover fuel expenses, raise awareness about volunteer opportunities, or update policies and procedures to bolster member safety.
