Federal Member for Capricornia, Michelle Landry, is proud to be a part of a Coalition that will ensure all Australians have timely and affordable access to a GP.
Under the current Federal Labor Government, it has never been harder to see a doctor. Bulk billing rates have plummeted and regional Australia has experienced a record shortage of GPs and health specialists.
“In Capricornia, bulk billing availability has dropped to 71.5 per cent, a stark contrast to 80.2 per cent under the Coalition,” Ms Landry explained.
“The impact of this steep drop is evident, with there being 184,615 fewer bulk billed GP visits last year, compared to 2021-22.”
With the announcement of the Coalition’s $9 billion investment into Medicare, Ms Landry is confident that the number of bulk-billing clinics will be restored to Pre-Labor levels.
“I am committed to lobbying my colleagues in Canberra to ensure the best health outcomes for Central Queenslanders,” Ms Landry said.
“It is pleasing to be part of a Coalition that is dedicated to improving health outcomes for all Australians.”
When in government, the Coalition established the now $22 billion Medical Research Future Fund which has vastly improved health outcomes and breakthroughs for all Australians.
Earlier this year, the Coalition also committed to a $400 million plan to provide training and financial incentives for junior doctors.
The Coalition has a strong record on health and with this new commitment they are determined to get Australia back on track.
