Federal Member for Capricornia, Michelle Landry, is pleased to announce that all approval requirements have been met for the upgrade of Collinsville’s Telstra services and is now on its way to delivery.
“Mobile coverage in Collinsville has been absolutely unacceptable, with my office receiving a large number of complaints last year,” Ms Landry explained.
“After a hard few months of lobbying both Telstra and the Federal Communications Minster, I am pleased to announce that Collinsville residents will receive improved mobile coverage before the end of June this year.”
The upgrade of Collinsville’s Small Cell to a Macro site will ultimately provide increased Telstra mobile capacity and coverage to the region.
Collinsville has a population of approximately 1500 residents, with many of them experiencing a lack of mobile reception. Community groups and small businesses have been particularly affected, with EFTPOS outages bringing the region to a halt.
“Regional Australia deserves the same mobile coverage as those in urban areas. In a time of increasing dependence on digital services, it is critical that the Collinsville community has reliable telecommunications services,” Ms Landry said.
“The Coalition takes regional communities seriously and, if elected, will provide long term investment into regional telecommunications infrastructure.”
