NDIS providers from across Central Queensland gathered in Rockhampton today for a dedicated NDIS Provider Forum, jointly hosted by Phil Thompson MP, Shadow Assistant Minister for the NDIS, and Michelle Landry MP, Federal Member for Capricornia.
The forum, themed “Sharing Challenges, Shaping Solutions,” provided a platform for local providers to openly discuss the realities they face, particularly amid recent changes to pricing structures and the growing pressures of delivering services in regional communities.
Ms Landry said the event was an important step in ensuring providers’ voices drive policy improvement.
“Providers are on the frontline of the NDIS. They understand better than anyone the gaps, the pressures, and the opportunities for improvement. Today is about listening to them — and working together to build a stronger, more sustainable NDIS that delivers for participants and supports the organisations who care for them.”
Michelle Landry MP said local providers are feeling the strain, especially when it comes to regional service delivery.
“In regional communities like Capricornia, providers face unique challenges — workforce shortages, travel demands and rising operational costs. These pressures can directly impact the quality and availability of support for participants. Today’s forum gives providers the chance to voice their concerns, share their experiences, and help shape the solutions we take forward.”
Discussions at the forum focused on:
- The sustainability of provider businesses under new pricing structures
- The challenges of delivering care in regional and rural areas
- The impact of system changes on service quality for participants
- Opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and support
Both MPs emphasised that insights gathered today will help inform the Coalition’s ongoing work to strengthen the NDIS and ensure it remains sustainable, fair, and centred on participants’ needs.
