Federal Member for Capricornia, Michelle Landry, said new comprehensive “truth data” released by Rainforest Reserves Australia and Steven Nowakowski exposes the devastating impact of Labor’s renewables rollout and proves why Australia must lift the nuclear moratorium.
“This data lays bare the destruction Labor’s green ideology is unleashing across the nation and right here in Central Queensland,” Ms Landry said.
“Projects like Clarke Creek Stage 2 and Lotus Creek Wind Farm are tearing through some of our most valuable koala habitat, all in the name of saving the planet.”
Ms Landry said the hypocrisy is staggering.
“Under the former Coalition Government, the Lotus Creek Wind Farm was rejected because of its unacceptable impact on koala habitat. Months after taking office, Labor signed off on it. They are destroying the very environment they claim to protect.”
The mapping, available at rainforestreserves.org.au/renewablestruthmap, provides real-time, clickable data revealing the staggering scale of Labor’s environmental vandalism.
It shows more than 1,126 renewable projects proposed nationwide, requiring 44,895 kilometres of new haulage roads for over 300 wind projects, the clearing of 443,000 hectares of prime land for 545 solar farms, and an eye-watering total of 584 million solar panels across Australia.
“This is what Labor’s renewables revolution really looks like: bulldozed farmland, destroyed forests, and shattered regional communities,” Ms Landry said.
Ms Landry said it’s time for common sense and balance in Australia’s energy future.
“We need to lift the nuclear ban and adopt a technology-neutral approach before it’s too late. If we want reliable, clean power without sacrificing our farmland and forests, nuclear must be part of the mix.”
Environmentalist Steven Nowakowski said the mapping is the most comprehensive to date.
“This is a trillion-dollar industry yet no one has done the mapping before,” Mr Nowakowski said.
“This was a three-year project, the irony being it was undertaken by volunteers.
“Australians can now see the impact for themselves. Every project is online and clickable, showing the size of the wind farm or the solar farm. It has been a huge piece of work that every Australian needs to know about.”
