Only the Coalition will Fix the Bruce

Federal Member for Capricornia, Michelle Landry, has applauded the Opposition Leader Peter Dutton’s pledge to invest $7.2 billion in Australia’s deadliest highway.

Michelle Landry MP said Peter Dutton listened to her concerns and acted decisively, committing to reinstate the 80:20 funding model three months before the Prime Minister even acknowledged the issue.

“In the face of record fatal accidents last year, Peter Dutton stood with me and my LNP colleagues to announce a re-elected Coalition Government would bring back the 80:20 funding model Labor scrapped in 2023,” Ms Landry said.

“Labor’s neglect has delayed critical roadworks and led to avoidable tragedies. They’ve shown Queensland’s most dangerous highway isn’t a priority.”

Ms Landry is committed to working closely with the incoming Queensland LNP government to make the Bruce Highway safer.

“The Coalition will partner with the Queensland LNP government to ensure every dollar of the $7.2 billion commitment is targeted at fixing the Bruce Highway and saving lives,” Ms Landry said.

“In just one term, federal Labor has derailed years of progress. They inherited over $10 billion in Coalition-led upgrades but have slashed, delayed, or cancelled projects as part of $31.4 billion in infrastructure cuts under the Albanese Government.”

“The message is clear: only the Coalition will deliver a safer Bruce Highway. Labor’s history of neglect speaks for itself.”
