The Rockhampton Airport Weather Station’s rain gauge issue has been resolved following urgent action from the Bureau of Meteorology, prompted by Federal Member for Capricornia, Michelle Landry.
Ms Landry worked tirelessly to ensure the Bureau addressed the problem swiftly, with technicians conducting a site visit and repairs yesterday, Wednesday 8 January.
“I am pleased to announce that the rain gauge is now fully operational and once again providing accurate, up-to-date weather data for our region,” Ms Landry said.
“Reliable weather information is critical for our community, whether it’s for farmers, businesses, emergency services, or residents as severe weather events can strike with little warning.
“I want to thank the Bureau of Meteorology for acting on my advocacy and resolving this issue quickly, and I extend my gratitude to the community for their patience during this time.
“Residents can continue to contact the Bureau of Meteorology for assistance by calling their Weather Connect team on 1300 754 389 (option 2) or emailing weatherquestions@bom.gov.au,” Ms. Landry added.
Ms Landry remains committed to ensuring that essential services like the Rockhampton Airport Weather Station operate reliably to support the needs of the Capricornia region.
