Federal Member for Capricornia, Michelle Landry, delivered an Address In Reply speech in Parliament today and spoke of her gratitude to her family, staff, supporters, colleagues, and constituents for re-electing her to a fourth term.
Ms Landry expressed her sincere gratitude and appreciation to the ‘quiet Australian’s’ who voted for her. For their belief in her and the work she achieved in her previous terms, as well as for what lays ahead for the 47th term of Parliament.
Reflecting on the previous three terms, Ms Landry stated she fought relentlessly to ensure that Capricornia received its fair share of funding.
“Since becoming Capricornia’s Federal MP in 2013, I worked tirelessly to secure major investment in real job-creating infrastructure.
“We also invested heavily in community projects through programs such as the Building Better Regions Fund, Regional Accelerator Program and Community Development Grants.
“Some of the projects in Capricornia that I’ve been delighted to see come to fruition through these programs are the upgrades to Collinsville CBD, the formal entrance to Rockhampton Zoo and the Development of a Regional Trails Strategy in the Isaac region,” Ms Landry said.
Some of Ms Landry’s proudest achievements during the previous term was securing $8 million for the Fitzroy Community Hospice and officially launching the new Headspace satellite service in Sarina.
With Rookwood Weir and Shoalwater Bay expansion projects nearing completion, it is a timely reminder that these wealth generating projects need to continue. Major infrastructure projects, such as the Rockhampton Ring Road and Urannah Dam, are needed to continue our region’s strong economic position.
“Capricornia is the powerhouse of our nation. I will continue to hold this Government to account to ensure our region receives its fair share.
“Once again, I wish to thank those who voted for me and putting your trust in me to stand as your elected representative. From the small business owners, the mums and dads, the coal miners, farmers, the retirees. Thank you.”
