The highly popular Volunteers Grants program is now open for Expressions of Interest for the 2023-24 round.
Federal Member for Capricornia, Michelle Landry, said the Volunteer Grants program is about recognising the valuable role volunteers play in society.
“Our volunteers are the backbone of society. These are Australians who are resilient, selfless and work hard to make our community a better place to live,” Ms Landry said.
“Volunteering also provides an effective pathway to get people into jobs, helps to break down the barriers of marginalisation and also fosters community participation.”
The 2023-24 Volunteer Grants provide organisations with grants of $1,000 to $5,000 to help purchase equipment, provide training, cover fuel costs, as well as background screening checks for their volunteers.
Ms Landry said that she was confident these grants would make a positive difference on the ground.
“To our volunteers in Central Queensland, thank you and congratulations. This funding is well deserved, and please keep up the amazing job that you do,” Ms Landry said.
