Community organisations in Capricornia have received a boost following the Federal Member for Capricornia, Michelle Landry, announcing $66,225 in funding which will directly support 22 local organisations.
Federal Member for Capricornia, Michelle Landry, said these grants are crucial to support the hard work, dedication and contribution volunteers make to our community.
“This additional funding will go a long way in helping local organisations and their volunteers to continue their crucial work in supporting the vulnerable and strengthening our community.
“Volunteering acts as an effective pathway to employment, fosters community participation and breaks down the barriers of marginalisation.
“To all volunteers in Capricornia, thank you for the work you do to make our communities a better place to live.
“Congratulations to the successful community groups. This funding is well deserved,” Ms Landry said.
2022-23 Volunteer Grants will provide organisations with grants of $1,000 to $5,000 to assist with purchasing equipment, training, cover fuel costs, as well as background screening checks for their volunteers.
