Visitors to the Yeppoon RSL will now enjoy easier access and improved facilities thanks to a $51,700 investment delivered by Federal Member for Capricornia, Michelle Landry.
The funding, secured through the Stronger Communities Program and Veterans’ Wellbeing Grant, has supported the installation of a new lift, upgraded entrance, improved carpark with additional disabled parking and shade structures as part of the club’s renovations.
Ms Landry said the upgrades will ensure all patrons, especially veterans and those with disabilities, can fully enjoy the RSL’s facilities.
“This funding has transformed the Yeppoon RSL,” Ms Landry said.
“The new deck extension, all-weather area and accessibility improvements will provide the club’s 400 plus members with a welcoming environment to come together.
“This is about ensuring veterans, their families and the wider community have a place to connect, relax and be supported.
“I’m proud to deliver this funding to strengthen the role of the Yeppoon RSL in our community. Securing this funding is about supporting not only our veterans but the entire community that gathers here.
Yeppoon RSL spokesperson Ashley Klease said the upgrades are a gamechanger for the club and its members.
“The Yeppoon RSL is one of the oldest traditional clubs in Australia and plays a vital role in our community,” Mr Klease said.
“With a growing membership base, these improvements will help us continue to meet the needs of our members and create an even more welcoming space for everyone who walks through our doors.
“We rely heavily on raffle ticket sales and weekend bar trade to keep the club running, so this investment provides a huge boost at a time when community clubs face real challenges.
“Thanks to this support, we can ensure the Yeppoon RSL not only honours the legacy of those who served but also remains a vibrant, family-friendly hub for the wider community for years to come.”
