Federal Member for Capricornia Michelle Landry has today released a graph which clearly shows that Australia continues to lead the world in our comeback from the Covid19 global pandemic and recession.
“The Albanese Labor Opposition can snipe all they like from the sidelines, but the facts don’t lie. Australia’s economy grew 1.8% in the March quarter outperforming G7 economies. So too in my electorate of Capricornia where the economy continues to grow and provide jobs and prosperity for all.” Ms Landry said
Australia’s economic performance has been world leading, having outperformed all major advanced economies in 2020, with growth only contracting 2.5 per cent compared to an OECD average of 4.8 per cent. Ms Landry said “Australia’s economic recovery has beaten our most optimistic forecasts, but we cannot be complacent.” The Morrison Government’s 2021-22 Budget includes further temporary support to keep businesses in business and Australians in jobs including tax relief for more than 10 million Australians, expanding Job Trainer to create 163,000 new training places and extending temporary full expensing and the loss carry back measure to support small business still recovering from COVID-19.”
Ms Landry said “Unemployment is falling, consumer confidence is at its highest levels in over a decade, business confidence is at a record high and construction of new houses is growing at the fastest rate in two decades. Here in Central Queensland we are pulling our economic weight and helping the Australian economy in its Covid recovery.”
