Federal Member for Capricornia Michelle Landry has congratulated the Beef Australia team for another record-breaking event.
This is following the release of Beef 2021’s independent economic impact results report revealing the event generated $94 million in direct and incremental expenditure for the Greater Rockhampton Region.
Ms Landry said despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Beef 2021 was more successful than ever before.
“115,866 people attended Beef 2021 which is an impressive 15% increase from 2018,” Ms Landy said.
“The week connected beef producers, agribusiness, industry experts and international trading partners while also showcasing the Greater Rockhampton Region.
“I am very proud that the Federal Government contributed $3.9 million towards Beef 2021 which has provided significant economic benefits for Central Queensland.”
“Visitors of Beef 2021 included the Prime Minister, Scott Morrison and many of my Coalition colleagues as it is a recognised world class event.”
Ms Landry said the report highlights the breakdown of visitor origins and the employment statistics for Beef 2021.
“It is fantastic to see that the event was supported by residents in the Rockhampton and Livingstone Regions as well as the rest of Queensland.
“26% of total attendees were from the Rockhampton/Livingstone Regions and 46% were from Greater Queensland.
“795 full time equivalent jobs in Rockhampton were supported by the week-long event.
“I am looking forward to attending Beef Week 2024 and seeing the amazing events the board and volunteers organise,” Ms Landry said.
